MLB Standings 2024: Regular Season, Wild Card, and Playoffs

American League Standings

The American League (AL) is one of the two major leagues that make up Major League Baseball (MLB). The AL is the younger of the two leagues, having been founded in 1901. The AL currently consists of 15 teams, divided into three divisions: East, Central, and West.

Division Standings

The AL East standings are led by the New York Yankees, followed by the Tampa Bay Rays, Boston Red Sox, Toronto Blue Jays, and Baltimore Orioles. The AL Central standings are led by the Cleveland Guardians, followed by the Minnesota Twins, Chicago White Sox, Detroit Tigers, and Kansas City Royals. The AL West standings are led by the Houston Astros, followed by the Los Angeles Angels, Seattle Mariners, Texas Rangers, and Oakland Athletics.

Wild Card Standings

The AL Wild Card standings are determined by the teams with the best records who do not win their division. The top three teams in the Wild Card standings will advance to the playoffs. The current Wild Card standings are led by the Rays, followed by the Blue Jays and the Mariners.

Playoff Standings

The AL playoffs will begin with the Wild Card Game, which will be played between the two teams with the worst records in the Wild Card standings. The winner of the Wild Card Game will advance to the Division Series, where they will face the team with the best record in their division. The other two division winners will also advance to the Division Series. The Division Series will be played in a best-of-five format, with the winners advancing to the League Championship Series. The League Championship Series will be played in a best-of-seven format, with the winner advancing to the World Series.
