Germany Win Thrilling U17 Women's Euros Final on Penalties

Albers' Late Goal Forces Shootout

Germany have won the UEFA Women's Under-17 European Championship for the eighth time after a thrilling penalty shootout victory over Spain in the final in Bosnia and Herzegovina.

Spain had taken the lead through Marina Artero's goal in the first half, but Germany equalized late on through a stunning strike from Sophie Albers.

The match went to penalties, and Germany ultimately prevailed 4-2. Pauline Wimmer scored the winning penalty for Germany.

The victory was Germany's eighth in the 13 editions of the WU17 EURO. Spain were appearing in their second final, having lost to Germany in the 2010 edition.
