National Lottery Good Causes Funding: How to Apply

About the Funding Program

The National Lottery Good Causes funding program supports projects that benefit the community in six key areas: sports, arts, heritage, youth, health, and the Irish language. Each year, millions of euros are distributed to organizations and initiatives that make a positive impact on people's lives.

Categories and Award Amounts

The funding is divided into seven categories, with each category winner receiving €10,000. The overall Good Cause of the Year will receive an additional €25,000.

  • Sports
  • Arts
  • Heritage

  • Irish Language

How to Apply for Funding

To apply for funding, organizations must meet the following criteria:

  • Be registered with the Charity Regulator
  • Have a track record of delivering successful projects
  • Demonstrate a clear need for funding

Applications can be submitted online through the National Lottery website. The application process typically includes the following steps:

  1. Create an account and register your organization
  2. Complete the online application form
  3. Submit supporting documentation
  4. Attend an interview (if selected)

Funding Limits

Organizations can apply for between €300 and €10,000 in funding. However, there is a limit on how much an organization can receive in total. Organizations can apply for funding for multiple projects, but the total funding requested cannot exceed €10,000.

Regulator's Role

It's important to note that the Regulator of the National Lottery has no role in the allocation of funding. Funding decisions are made by an independent panel of experts.

Recent Funding Success

Last week, players raised an estimated €41 million for Good Causes. Almost 30c from every €1 spent on National Lottery games goes back to thousands of projects and initiatives that make a positive difference in communities across the country.
